Agricultural Machinery Demonstration Mela – ‘Farm Mech 2026’ organized at KCAEFT-Tavanur
In view of Kerala’s small landholdings and acute labour scarcity, a three-day Agricultural Machinery Demonstration Mela – ‘Farm Mech 2026’ was organized to promote context-specific farm mechanization. The mela, proposed in collaboration with the College Alumni Association and AICRP schemes, was held on 22–24 January 2026 in connection with Agricultural Engineering Day.
The event showcased compact and advanced machinery such as paddy transplanters, mini combine harvesters, power tillers, drones, and crop-specific tools through live demonstrations. Keynote lectures, thematic exhibitions, expert interactions, and mechanization advisory clinics were also conducted.
With participation from about 50 manufacturers and footfall of over 50,000 farmers and stakeholders, the mela aimed to enhance awareness, encourage adoption of suitable mechanization technologies, strengthen University–Industry linkages, and support sustainable agricultural development in Kerala.
